Frequently Asked Questions

Program Summary:

Blue Lotus Weight Management is a physician supervised, medication assisted, medical weight loss program that emphasizes importance of long term weight management. Will you lose weight quickly at the beginning of your program? Very likely, yes. Most of our patients enjoy remarkable weight loss results in the first few weeks and months on the Blue Lotus program. But Dr. Mansour encourages patients to think long term and focus on the rewards of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight for a lifetime. This is where the Blue Lotus program is vastly different from any other weight loss program you have tried in the past.

Dr. Mansour talks about the program:

“At Blue Lotus Weight Management, I treat overweight and obesity the same way I treat diabetes and hypertension, using combination drug therapy, in addition to diet and exercise protocols. I consider this to be a long term program since we’re treating a long term problem. Although diet and exercise are essential adjuncts of any prudent comprehensive program, they rarely, by themselves, result in long term weight loss control.”

Note: We are putting together a more comprehensive answer to this question, to give you a better overview of what fees you can expect monthly.  The cost of the program is surprisingly affordable in comparison to most established weight loss programs that offer much less, in the way of medical supervision and tangible help in your effort to lose weight.

Our experience and expertise in the field helps patients avoid wasting their hard-earned money on worthless supplements and injections that do nothing more than slim your wallet!

Patients are usually prescribed a combination of a few medications.
(not all of those listed below!) Medications that we currently use include:

  • Appetite suppressants: Phentermine, Adipex, Diethylpropion, Didrex
  • Antidepressants: SSRI’S (Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro, Celexa, Luvox)
  • SNRI’S (Effexor, Savella, Pristiq)
  • NDRI’S (Welbutrin SR,XL Aplenzin)
  • Anti-diabetics: Glucophage XR, Glumetza, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Semiglutide
  • Anti-convulsants: Topamax, Topiramate, Zonegran, Zonisamide

Above medications are often used in combination to suppress appetite, control cravings, improve insulin sensitivity and lower the metabolic set-point.

We are “Out of Network” providers for all PPO insurances. Those who have this type of coverage can submit their office visit charges to their respective insurance companies for reimbursement.
Although most insurance does not cover “weight control services,” they often will cover other co-morbid conditions associated with being overweight/obese.
Although appetite suppressant medications are infrequently covered, most of the other medications we use are.
